Search and Research #141

It's always nice to get another one of these done and up after an extended absence. I'm going to admit up front that having finished it, I do not like the way I colored this copier. I hope nobody will be upset when that coloring changes in future strips. Enjoy!

There is something off about the copier. I think it might be that it's monotone. I know, you're only using shades of gray, but it's rather strange that only the drawers have highlights/lowlights. Not sure how to fix that, really, because copiers do tend to be pretty flat. Also, I'm not sure there's enough difference between the light gray of the face and the dark/blue gray of the mouth/shadows. Make one lighter or the other darker, or maybe a little of both.

Also, I think my library uses the same copier as Marc's library. I can't wait to see the evil similarities!

That's a good point Angie. I think if I had it to do over, I'd probably only outline the edges of the copier and the drawers and stuff, but leave it mostly white. I need to pull out my Art of Star Wars books and see how they rendered the robot designs, because those were really nice grayscale drawings. This copy machine is based on the design of the actual machine at my library. Thanks for the comment!

Is there some sort of "library approved" copier that you guys are all required to use?
