Search and Research #44

4 strips in a week!! What's happening here? Well, I forgot to post one of the ones from last week...and I'm trying to get number 45 up this week as well, but it's a color one, so we'll see. Either way, 45 will end this little story arc and we can get back to the more nonsensical strips.

Ok, I admit it, I'm a comicbook nerd, and since we were showing artifacts encased in glass in this strip, I had to include Kandor, which is a Superman reference. For anyone interested in reading about Kandor, here is a link to Wikipedia. Enjoy!

We're getting closer to the end of this particular story line!! Based on some comments, I would like to clarify a couple of things. First, I pronounce Boük's name like 'book'...it's just spelled a little differently. Second, he is not blind, he just likes wearing sunglasses all the time, like Bono. His eyes are sensitive to light. That's all I can think of at the moment. Enjoy!

Oh, and don't forget that you can browse through past strips with this cool viewer my friend Jason created for us!!

Search and Research #42

We mentioned Boük in the last strip, and now we get to meet him. Hopefully he will balance out Opal in the cataloguing department. My friend Bryan and I have some ideas for Boük on his own. I'm ready to get him into the mix. Enjoy!

Aggghhh!! I forgot again!! What's wrong with me? What's that...lack of sleep? Oh, ok. Lack of sleep is what's wrong with me. Anyway, I'm hoping that we'll get this storyline finished up this next week (assuming that I remember to post these things each night). Enjoy!

Search and Research #40

Ok, I admit it, it's my fault. I forgot to add a new image last night. So, there will be a new comic tomorrow as well. Also, I'd like to announce the creation of a viewer for this strip! Big props to my friend and collaborator, Jason Watts for creating this! He wrote this from scratch folks! Now you can view past strips without having to open the blog archives. I've placed a permanent link to it beneath my profile picture in the upper right. Enjoy!

Search and Research #39

Ok, and we're back! I now have a newfound respect for those comic strip writers who carry interesting story lines through a comic while still having good punchlines...Bill Watterson, and Berkely Breathed are two of my favorites. I'm happy to say that this weekend I was able to catch up, so there will be strips at their regualar intervals this next week! Hooray! Provided that I can write out the rest of this story this week, it'll come to a close at the end of next week. In case anyone was wondering, "Gosh, when is this story ever coming to an end?!" Enjoy!

News....

Hello everyone, our family was treated to a surprise visit from my younger brother this weekend. He currently lives in Alaska, and it's been over a year since we last saw him. It goes without saying that I spent all the free time I had with him, and not drawing comic strips. So I apologize, but hope that you'll understand why I may only get one strip up this week. Thanks very much for all your enthusiasm and encouraging comments, I'm still having a lot of fun with this!

Search and Research #38

Ok, this was an experiment. I wanted this basement scene to be gloomy and dingy, and at the same time, I wanted to be able to show the clutter and boxes and stuff. I'm not so good at doing heavy shadows with lines, so I decided to try to put in gray tones with an ink wash. Once I'd started though, I realized that this was the wrong kind of paper for an ink wash! So, I did the best I could with it. The wavy look of the image is a result of the paper wrinkling because of the water on it. Anyway, enjoy!

Search and Research #37

Alright, a new strip! Sorry for not having this ready last friday, but this is one of two really busy months in my yearly schedule. As a result, I may not be able get 3 of these out a week like I was doing last fall. To compensate for this, the next few strips will be a tale of intrigue and suspense. While not neccessarily intended to be laugh-out-loud funny and have a punchline every time, this will be an exercise for me in telling a sequential story within the bounds of comic strip genre. I hope you will enjoy it.

Search and Research #36

Ok, we are back!!! Welcome faithful Search and Research-ers, we're starting the new year in style with a special double sized edition!! I have to say, it was hard to actually write a comic that would sustain itself for 6 panels instead of three; big props to my friend Jason for working that out. Enjoy!
